My New Year's Resolution

My 2009 New Year's resolution is to eat at all 50 Texas BBQ joints mentioned in this Texas Monthly article.

Today I had the brisket at Willie Ray's in Beaumont. Only 49 to go. The brisket tasted more like regular roast beef (very good roast beef) but had no bbq or smoky flavor. The sauce was a little too vinegary for my taste.

The kids really liked the chicken fingers and french fries.

Lake Charles bridge

The bridge at Lake Charles has handrails that include crossed pistols. It's really cool but not something you'd see somebody do these days.

Busy, Busy

Spent a busy, busy weekend playing soccer (http://www.spacecityfc.org/) and not much else. Beginning to really question the value of the advanced level sports. Travel requirements are really crazy and it is of course, expensive. Just three more games and a tournament before the season is over. I need to work on a little more balance!

K-Sketch, for small animations

Just trying out K-Sketch, a new little tool for doing fun animations. I couldn't figure out how to embed a swf file in Blogger, so I just "filmed" the screen and uploaded the video. It's fun. I'm going to get the kids working on some flicks.

Going Mobile

I'm going to work on scheduling one day a week where I spend zero to very little time in the office and most of my time wandering around the site checking on things. This is a much better way for me to see how things are working. I'll let you know how well my experiment works out.

Shuttle and Station Overhead

STS-122 is winding down. Tonight in League City, Texas I will be able to see both the Shuttle (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/main/index.html) and the Station (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/main/index.html) fly overhead. Heaven's Above (http://www.heavens-above.com) is a great website for looking up visible passes of all kinds of spacecraft.
