Ever wonder what happens to the big orange external tank that is jettisoned from the space shuttle as it gets to orbit? It floats back down to earth and is burned up in re-entry. Here is a picture from the last shuttle misison that shows it floating down over European farmland. This photo was taken from the shuttle. Cool huh?
