I always like this photo (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/shuttle/shuttlemissions/sts122/multimedia/launch/index.html) of the aftermath of a shuttle launch (http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/210808main_08pd0219.jpg). The huge beast you were looking at on the pad is gone and all that is left is this squiggly smoke. It's surreal.
